Our first workshop put on by AIDS Vancouver Island entitled "Queering Your Health: Queer Youth Sexual Health, Harm Reduction, and Youth Empowerment" This workshop focused on discussions on queer terminology and language, sexual health, sexual decision making, risk substance use, population stats, and overall health and wellness for queer youth. The second workshop was presented by Out in Schools and used queer films to facilitate discussions surrounding homophobia, bullying, and stereotypes. |
The third workshop, by Saanich Parks and Recreation, was a discussion based workshop to help develop the municipalities youth development plan so it can become more accessible and diverse.
The fourth and final workshop was presented by Lambrick Park Teacher and Union Representative, Kirk Doherty. This was a "know your rights" workshop that discussed the various laws put in place to protect queer community in a variety of settings: home, school, and work. |
